The events of 2007 were quite successful in reuniting alumni from all over the country. New formats and locations for several of the events made the occasions bigger and better than ever. The College hosted reunions with the classes of 61' - 63', 76' & 77', 81'-83' and 86'-88'; many of which had not been back on campus since they graduated.
Next year we begin a year long celebration of the College's 50th anniversary. From August 2008 until September 2009, a variety of events and attractions geared toward alumni, the community and all the friends of Rochester College will take place!
Be sure to check this website often for updates and information and subscribe to the eNewsletters; RC Monthly—for friends of the College or WarriorLink—for alumni; as well.
Here are a few things already being planned or discussed:
Class of 1979 Reunion
Attention Class of 1979, we are coordinating a reunion currently scheduled for
June 26-28, 2009. If you would like to be involved in the planning, or would simply like to attend, please contact Julie Harper.
Homecoming 2008 is scheduled for Saturday, November 1. The event welcomes students, parents, alumni, faculty/ staff and friends and is absolutely FREE! Usually included in the festivities are fun games and prizes, a tailgate lunch, campus tours, an alumni basketball game, a RC theater production and the Men's varsity basketball game! And of course, homecoming would not be complete without the crowning of the king and queen during halftime! Since this is during the 50th year-long celebration, we want ALL alumni to be back for this event! It will be a historic event to see all of the queens and kings from the past 50 years together honoring the new royalty. Well that's the goal. Remember alumni receive student rates for the theater! Class Reunions
For decades, class reunions have been a popular highlight of summer on the campus of Rochester College. The availability of campus housing and the flexibility of family travel schedules have made the summer months an ideal time for such gatherings. Reunions during homecoming are now growing in popularity as many alumni like to meet current students and experience the current campus culture.
Each reunion is scheduled and organized by volunteers from specific classes. Reunions normally are not scheduled unless representatives from the class volunteer to coordinate the event. A College representative will provide guidance, schedule campus facilities, and prepare mailings for reunion planners.
While some classes prefer to gather more frequently, reunions are recommended at ten-year increments (10, 20, 30, 40-year). The type and amount of formal activity varies from class to class. July is normally the best month for reunions. Dates are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. For best results and adequate notification of class members, planners should begin the process at least eight months before the scheduled event.
If you are interested in coordinating a reunion for your class, please contact Kyle Martin at reunions@rc.edu.
Special Reunions
Occasionally, various groups host special reunions for specific groups of alumni. For example, former choral singers of Paul Downey have participated in two reunions, former members of Autumn celebrated the group's 25th anniversary with a reunion concert, and former basketball players gather annually for an alumni game. If you would be interested in organizing a special reunion, contact Kyle Martin at reunions@rc.edu.
