The Rochester College family expresses its sympathy for the loss of the following former students and employees during the last twelve months.
A former faculty member and academic vice president, Dr. Joseph Jones, died peacefully on October 27, 2008. Dr. Jones was employed by the college from 1963 until 1971. For several consecutive years, the student body repeatedly selected him as the college's favorite instructor with a near-perfect score in all categories of a national survey conducted among junior colleges.
Alan Sadurski, class of 1968, passed away on August 22, 2008, from cancer. Alan taught chemistry at Michigan Christian College during the late 1970s. His mother, Catherine, is a long-time treasurer of the Associates.
A tragic car accident claimed the life of Dave Heintzman, a member of the class of 1976, on August 2, 2008.
Gary DeVos , class of 1964, died from heart problems on May 22, 2008. He was married to Carrol (Burleson) DeVos, also a member of the class of 1964.
A member of the class of 1972, Pam (King) Green, passed away on April 21, 2008, after a battle with leukemia. Pam's husband, Gary Green, is also a member of the class of 1972. Three of Pam's siblings are also alumni, Marvin King, class of 1970, Melodie (King) Patterson, class of 1985, and Scott King, class of 1986.
Heidi (Stewart) Hoffman, class of 1997, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2008. Heidi's father, Ed Stewart, is a member of the class of 1971, and her mother, Judy (Sparks) Stewart, a member of the class of 1970. Her brother, Eddie, is a 1998 graduate.
Liz (Bridges) Henderson, class of 1966, passed away on January 3, 2008 of cancer. Liz was the sister and sister-in-law of class of 1968 alumni Larry and Linda Bridgesmith.
Following a long battle with brain cancer, John Campbell, Center for Extended Learning class of 2003, passed away on December 10, 2007. John was very proud of the CEL program and his courage touched many throughout the Rochester Hills community.
Sam Washington, class of 1974, died on October 9, 2007. Wife, Peggy (Patton), class of 1970, is also an alumnus of the college.
