Welcome
Marking the 50th anniversary of the A Cappella Chorus, all former directors and members of the college's oldest student organization were invited to participate in a chorus reunion and concert on April 24-25, 2009. Former directors Fred Alexander (1959-1964), Paul Downey (1964-1968), Ed Ritchie (1968-1973), Fritz Petrich (1973-1976), Randy Gill (1976-1984), and current director Joe Bentley (1986-present) participated in this special weekend event.
The weekend began with a reception and devotional on Friday evening followed by a rehearsal on Saturday. A dramatic performance by the reunion chorus and the current A Cappella Chorus rounded out the activities on Saturday. The weekend was filled with nostalgia, rekindling of friendships, and wonderful singing!
The North Central Christian College A Cappella Chorus presented its debut performance at the college lectureship on October 13, 1959. During the opening year, 31 individuals from a student body of 54 sang in the chorus. Since the opening year, over 1,100 students have established a tradition of excellence that has been noted throughout the nation.
